Winter Skincare: Tips for Healthy Skin in Cold Weather

Autumn and Winter can be harsh on your skin, causing dryness, redness, and even irritation. The cold temperatures, dry air, and indoor heating can all contribute to these problems. But don't worry, with a few simple adjustments to your skincare routine, you can keep your skin healthy, happy and glowing through the colder seasons!

1. Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise!

This is probably the most important tip of all. Choose a rich, hydrating moisturizer that is specifically formulated for dry skin. Apply it immediately after showering or bathing, while your skin is still damp. This will help to lock in moisture and prevent dryness. We have some fantastic options, such as the My Olivanna Strawberry Seed Oil Moisturiser

2. Exfoliate and Cleanse Gently

Regular exfoliation can help to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth. However, be gentle, especially during the winter months when your skin is more prone to dryness. Choose a gentle cleanser or exfoliator that is suitable for sensitive skin.

3. Protect Your Lips

Your lips are particularly vulnerable to dryness in cold weather. Apply a lip balm regularly throughout the day to keep them hydrated and soft. Whether it's non-tinted or with a pop colour, just make sure to keep your lips hydrated.

4. Wear Sunscreen

You might think that sunscreen is only necessary during the summer months, but that's not the case. The sun's rays can still damage your skin in the winter, especially if you're spending time outdoors. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF and apply it at the start of your skincare routine.

6. Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is important for overall health, but it's especially important for your skin. Dehydration can contribute to dryness and wrinkles. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day.
